An organic market has sprung up next to the farm..

It’s gaining in popularity, so come early say about 9.30 and stay till after lunch. Work on the farm and buy some food and picnic under the historic oaks with your family. DJ Caz will be providing foot tapping music to hum to.We are so pleased to be joined this Saturday, 25 May 2013, by Making Kos – Loubie Rusch is a passionate explorer of cooking with local and indigenous ingredients, and puts together courses to share her explorations. Occasionally found offering a taste of her experimentations at pop-up food markets.
Loubie’s theme this week is Carissa macrocarpa, commonly known as Num Num or Natal plum, with delicious red fruits. It is well established in Cape Town, but not well known for its edible fruits.
So, you can buy Num Num Jam, jelly and cordial, also served sparkling by the cup. Or how about Num Num infused black mustard and Num Num dressing. Or Num Num chutney and crunchies. A variety of marmalades infused with indigenous flavours like buchu, rooibos, honey bush, wild rosemary, pelargonium,
We will also have Num Num plants for sale from Michells Wholesale Nursery, aloes, petunias, and other varieties.
Our usual organic carrots, turnips, lettuce, chard will be on sale as well as some homemade yoghurt (yes full cream milk), butter and other yummies, like the best pomegranates you have ever tasted direct from the farmer.
We will also have Gravel Garden heirloom seed, homemade butter and yoghurt (the guava and granadella is eat the whole jar yourself delicious) and Reliance Organic Compost but wait there’s more:
- Fleur of Fork Full of Fleurs with salads, quiches, crunchies, dressings, vegan chocolate cupcakes, and homemade rooibos ice tea
- Theo of Tamboerswinkel is making Deluxe coffee and selling red velvet cupcakes, granache slices and savoury muffins
